A Sydney name, back on the street that deserves it
Pelicano opened in Double Bay in the nineties and spent two decades as the room where Sydney went after dinner. It closed in 2019 when the building did.
In October 2024 restaurateur Andrew Becher — the name behind Franca, Parlar and Armorica — brought it back to Bayswater Road, in the bones of the old Hugos Lounge, with art on every wall, navy velvet in every booth and a kitchen run by Executive Chef Jose Saulog.
The idea hasn't changed: a high-end cocktail program, great food and a room where you can dance and have fun — all at one address. Dinner becomes drinks becomes the club without anyone calling a car.
The art
A gallery you can drink in
Vogue covers, Miró-style abstracts, a red cheetah guarding the club door. The pop-art program is a nod to the Double Bay original and the focal point of every room.

Italian heart, Sydney produce
Jose Saulog's menu leans Mediterranean — arancini, fritto misto, vongole, a daily wagyu — and runs late enough for the club crowd.
